Competitions

We are one of the biggest volleyball clubs in Melbourne (and Australia), with teams playing in almost every available competition at every possible skill level.

Victorian Volleyball State League

The Victorian Volleyball State League (VVL) is run by Volleyball Victoria Incorporated. Matches are played on Saturdays at the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong.  The 2010 season is held between 17th April and 11th September. Our club is consistently one of the largest at State League, fielding both Men's & Women's teams in each division (Honours, Division 1 & Division 2).  A second Division 2 team for Juniors will be entered for both Men & Women, aimed at secondary students.  Information on training venues & times can be found on the training page. Some playing experience is often required for team selection.

Social training/competitions

We run social volleyball sessions throughout the academic year for those who can't commit to or don't have adequate skills for the State League competition.  For more details visit the social volleyball page.

Victorian Country Cup Tournaments

There are several indoor weekend tournaments at country towns throughout the year.  They are a good, fun opportunity to get a weekend of match play in the off-season and for some socialising with other club members.  For more details visit the tournament page.

Australian Volleyball League

There is a national club league (AVL) run by the Australian Volleyball Federation. This is the top level of club volleyball in Australia. Renegades are a partner in the University Blues team.

University Games

The Australian University Games (AUG) are held in the mid-semester break in September. There is also a qualifying tournament in the July mid-year break. As a university club, we enter one men's and one women's team in the AUG each year. You can only play for us at the AUG if you are a current student of the University of Melbourne. Training for the September and July tournaments will usually only begin a few weeks before the tournament, with the majority of players already playing in various state league teams.

Beach Volleyball

Beach volleyball tournaments are held on weekends between January-March, run by Vic Beach. Renegades doesn't enter teams as a club - in fact there is currently no such thing as a beach 'club'. Rather, each weekend is a separate tournament and you just enter a few days beforehand with anyone you like. However, many Club members do play beach together.  Become a member of the website and join the beach volleyball group to meet potential beach teammates.
