Saturday, 8 November
The womens team had a disappointing loss to arch-rivals Monash Uni. Two sets to one up, 12-7 in the fourth, the team seemed to have the match under control. They ended up losing 2-3 (19-25, 26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 8-15).
Jordan Schultz put up her usual numbers (23 kills, 19 passes, 1 block, 1 ace), Sue Mullen played a fine game (12 kills, 6 passes, 3 aces) and there were good contributions from captain Cristy Mace (5 kills, 6 passes) and Sandra Carter (6 kills).

The next day, the women's team played last year's AVL runners-up, Melbourne Falcons. The pumped-up girls had a stirring victory, proceeding to thump the opposition in straight sets, 25-15, 25-20, 25-14, with great back court play, aggressive serving, fantastic pickups and intelligent hitting, thus never giving the finals-bound Falcons a sniff.
It was probably the best performance by the MU Renegades in their young 2-year AVL history. It was an outstanding team effort, putting the Falcons completely out of their comfort zone with a creative offense and solid defense. Individual statistics included:
- Jordan Schultz - 18 kills, 3 passes
- Cristy mace - 8 kills, 3 passes
- Kristan Butler - 3 kills, 1 block, 1 ace
- Sue Mullen - 3 kills, 4 passes
- Sandra Carter - 2 kills, 2 passes
- Felicity Brown - 2 kills.
