mu renegades defeat Nittaidai 2 on day two

The 2002 Eric Hayman Cup began on Saturday, February 16, between Japan's Nittaidai 1 and 2 (the Nihontaiiku university) and Victoria's four Australian Volleyball League (AVL) men's teams.

Melbourne Uni Renegades were first up against Nittaidai 1 on Saturday afternoon, unfortunately going down in straight sets. However, it was MU Renegades' first match together as an AVL team and the match gave them valuable time on court.

On Sunday afternoon is was a different story against Nittaidai 2, with MU Renegades winning the match in four sets. The coach of Nittaidai 2 was unhappy with his team's performance, taking his side off for rigorous training drills after the match. For the MU Renegades team though there were promising signs as they look forward to the 2002 Australian Volleyball League starting next month.

The Melbourne University Renegades men take on Nittaidai 1 again on Tuesday night, February 19, at Monash University from 6:30pm.
