nittaidai tournament finals

After a great week of "international" volleyball between two men's team from the Japanese Nittaidai University and Victoria's four AVL teams, it came down to two finals on Saturday afternoon at Monash University.
Melbourne University Renegades took on Nittiadai 2, a team they defeated last Sunday but lost narrowly to on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Renegades, several players (including setter Sacha Wilmann) and their coach were missing for the match, with reserve setter, Gus Cirillo, having to fill-in. MU Renegades eventually went down in four sets but had enjoyed their first few matches together as a team this week.
Melbourne Falcons (current Australian club champions) played Nittaidai 1 in the other final, a team that hadn't lost a match all week. Melbourne Falcons lost the first two sets but came back to level the match at two sets all. The fifth set was all Nittaidai's though, winning the match 3-2.
Congratulations to all involved for an excellent week of high class volleyball and we look forward to the next visit by Nittaidai University.
