Melbourne Uni Volleyball Teams Round Results at AUG 2002

The 2002 Australian University Gamesbegan in Adelaide with the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, September 29. TheUniversity of Melbourne againsent both men's and women's volleyball teams to compete for the mantle ofAustralia's top university side.

The Melbourne Uni men's volleyball team includes Australian representative Ben Loft and with a good supporting cast they have managed to go through the rounds undefeated. Finishing top of their pool gives them a double chance to make the semi finals. In their first play-off match, they face Melbourne rivals RMIT at lunchtime Wednesday and a win would see them straight into the semis.

The women's team is also strong this year and before the tournament were confident of at least a top-four showing. They won their first two round matches but lost on Tuesday to local champions University of South Australia (USA). The team goes through the repecharge rounds Wednesday morning but are already looking towards a grand final rematch with USA.
