Men's Division 1 Win Ballarat

The Melbourne University Renegades Division 1 Men continued on their winning way to take out the Ballarat State Cup for 2001 on the weekend of April 7-8.

Taleni Afatasi and Steve Kay joined the rest of the Division 1 team as they went through the weekend without losing a match. Travis Hicks took on a new role as libero for several games as regular libero, Damien James, consistently hit outside. The team's main competition for the weekend was Mornington who are playing in the Honours division for VVL 2001. However, with Taleni and Steve banging away outside, they were no match for the confident Renegades.

The Division 2 women also had an excellent weekend, playing their first matches together as a new team. Making it through to the grand final they were on a high. Down 2 sets to 0 in the final, they fought back strongly before narrowly going down in five sets.
