Shane Purvis from Australian Volleyball Warehouse has notified the Australian volleyball community that more than 200 volleyballs from the Sydney Olympics have been stolen...

"Approximately 205 Mikasa MVL200 indoor volleyballs with the Sydney 2000 and Olympic rings logos on them plus 14 Mikasa ball trolleys with the Sydney 2000 logo appear to have been stolen before they could be transported out of the Remains of the Games auctioneers."

"These balls and trolleys had been purchased by Australian Volleyball Warehouse and the Australian Volleyball Federation together. They were to be distributed to associations, clubs and schools by both AVW and AVF. A small quantity were also to be available to individuals through AVW."

"Given that volleyball has a relatively small community, it is hoped that they should turn up somewhere soon. At this point though Australian Volleyball Warehouse have offered a reward of $1000 for information which leads to their recovery."

"If anyone tries to sell these balls to you or anyone you know please consider how many you could get for free just by letting us know who it was."

Shane can be contacted via email at Shane.Purvis@avw.net.au or we're happy to pass any information you might have on to him.

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide in tracking the equipment down.
