MU Renegades Masters Men Win Gold at World Games

The Melbourne University Renegades Masters 30+ Men's team have won the gold medalat the World Masters Games 2002 in Melbourne this week. Despite losing theircrown as national champions at this year's Australian Games, they went throughthe World tournament undefeated.
The Men began the tournament strongly with two good wins on the first day of competition last Saturday. Losing just one set during the rounds, they comfortably finished on top of their pool. Up against Act Your Age in the grand final who had taken a set off them during the second match, MU Renegades showed why they have been a dominant team in Australian club volleyball for many years. With the gold medal comes the worthy title of "World Champions".
The Melbourne Uni Renegades Masters 30+ Women's team had a shakey start to the tournament, losing their first two matches to the teams that would eventually fight out yesterday's the grand final. But they enjoyed more success as the week went on, but just failed to reach the finals.
Congratulations to all the MU Renegades players, taking the club's name to the world stage.
