The Renegades presentation night was again a great success: lots of awards & speeches interrupted by great food, and good fun overall!

Last night Volleyball Victoria held the 2011 State League Presentation Night at Powerhouse Albert Park. The evening was well run, the food was delicious, and all attendees were dressed in their finest. A huge congratulations is owed to a number of Renegades that were awarded for their outstanding talent during the 2011 VVL season:

Three Renegades teams made it into the final 4 of their leagues. The Premier Women came in 4th place in the regular season. Supported by a large red support crowd they faced last year’s finalist Eastside in their semi final. Chrissie, Jess, Anna, Jasmin, Roxy, Tash, Kelly, and the rest of the team fought a hard game, but eventually lost in 3 sets.

The morning of the Mens Div 2 trip to Mildura was exactly how we all imagined it to be. Early wake up call, 5 hour train ride to Swan Hill and finally a 3 hour bus ride to our final destination. The Mens div 2 team arrived at what many of us have called "the middle of nowhere" hungry, dizzy and tired but it didn't stop the team from getting pumped. Preparing ourselves for a rematch against the Phantoms which all of us knew wouldn't be an easy task.

Div 2 women lost 3-0 to LaTrobe University last Saturday. The ladies did their best to put up a good fight, displaying good team work and having good rallies. There were several pretty serves and spikes that targeted hard angle, hard line and cuts. Each set ended with a small marginal difference in scores, 19-25, 16-25 and 20-25.

Round 8 was a replay of round 1, where our Premier teams played the Eastside Hawks. Back then our Premier Men lost against the Hawks in 4 sets, but today we left the Hawks with no chance and beat them in 3 sets! Erich and the rest of the backcourt made a big step up and passed pretty well. Michael played a pretty nice game, as did Ben, our second setter. Of course, I wish I had gotten more balls through the middle, but Dean and I did our best to block the other team and to draw their blocks.

Good news, everyone!
Trivia night
I had lots of fun at trivia night (I hope you too ;) and we also raised some money for the club: $950. Good work, Reserves teams!
Fund-raising at Bunnings
Chad is trying to get us into Bunnings at Port Melbourne to sell sausages on Melbourne Cup Day. Please keep this date free to help our club raise more money to lower our fees, and to have some fun while selling sizzling sausages!
