Setting up for presentation night

Hi everyone,

Rosemary & I visited the Redback last night.
We have included one free drink for all guests upon arrival (beer, wine or soft drink).

We have asked for a discount on jugs of beer (heavy & premium) - we cannot get discounts on pots/pints.

We are able to set up on Friday night (saturday morning is not ideal as we cannot get inside until 11am - which does not leave much time before we need to head to the stadium). If everyone who wants to join in can come along around 6-6.30 that would be great. Roxy will bring along decorations. The karaoke machine/PA system/music box will arrive on Saturday.

Can someone ask around the boys teams tonight to find out if anyone has any dietary requirements (vegetarian etc) and let me know ASAP.

Trophies/glasses will probably be set up Saturday night at 6.30. I'll be there to collect money off those that have yet to pay.

Due to the addition of the free drink, and paying for security & other incidental costs, we may go over budget. I'll buy a bottle of alcohol to toss the coin at, and Rosemary will make up the square game (buy a number for $2 - one of the numbers corresponds to $50 which the winner wins). Hopefully money raised can cover our extra costs.

Pres nite karaokenannigans

G'day fellas.

After discussion with Rose and Jess, looks like there is room in the pres nite budget for a karaoke machine. So we've booked one. It'll be delivered direct to the Redback on Sat morning.

By the end of the night I have no doubt it will have its own momentum, but to get things rolling when everyone's still relatively sober, it might be an idea to have one or more games/challenges.
.
An idea that springs to mind is: give each table/team a song and give them 15 minutes to change the words to be about volleyball or Renegades then perform it for everyone.
.
Any other ideas?
.
Incidentally, the thing doubles as a 3000-song jukebox. So we don't have to organise our own music unless we want to. Anyone who wants to however is of course welcome to.

Training for the next few weeks

Hi girls,

I was wondering if any of you are interested in training over the next few weeks? Nicki has organised tournament training, but that doesn't start for a little while and a few people have asked me if there's anything in the meantime.

If you want there's space available to train on Tuesday nights next to the boys. I thought a Tuesday might be good because the coaches will all already be there (a bonus), and because you'll get to meet some of the guys and have a more social night (the guys generally go for dinner after Tuesday trainings too if you're interested).

Let me know if you're interested in doing this so I can spread the word, I don't want to say it's on and have 2 people show up by themselves!

Hi girls! (& array of coaches)

So we thought it would be good to catch up before presentation night, count the votes, eat dinner, have a nice casual night to celebrate the end of the season, we just need to confirm the date.

We have an offer for location: Maggie's house, Northcote, just next to High Street. Unless there are any objections I'll assume this will be OK with everyone?

We must have the night before presentation night which is in 2 weeks, which leaves next Friday 5th (not ideal because chappy is having drinks coz he's leaving us for Adelaide), Sat 6th night (ideal), Sat 6th day (ideal, if the honours boys get straight into the GF (coz otherwise i'll be out in dandenong)), or monday 8th when we would normally have training (ideal, but less beer involved due to uni/work next day). This monday 1st is out as Rosemary is just getting back from NZ.

So if you can all email back we get things rolling.

End of Season nearing

Hi Ladies!

A couple of things need to be taken care of at the end of the season:

I have to collect EVERYONE'S top after their final game, even if you play tournaments at the end of the year. If your last game is the grandfinal (hopefully the case for the div 2 chicks), or next saturday, I'll be there to collect the tops so PLEASE don't leave without giving them to me (otherwise I'll be mean and make you come to training to give it to me :o) ).

If Chris doesn't have your email address then you would not have received his email, saying keep the night of Sat Aug 23rd free as he's planning for the girls side of the club to go out & celebrate the end of the season.

Grandfinal day is 13th of September. Firstly, it is a club expectation that you can make it to cheer on all teams during all finals, but especially the grandfinal. Presentation night is that night - a fun night that everyone from the club usually comes along so not to be missed. Tickets will be handed out Saturday, and will cost $45 ($25 if you attended the AGM + 1 other social function for the year). More details are to come.

If you have not finished paying your fees, please pay up and make me happy :o) I know honours chicks have not all paid - especially those that have not played the whole season. Please talk to me if you are not sure how much you owe. Also, if you haven't yet signed up to the website, please do so. If you keep forgetting, see me at training, I usually have my laptop and so you can do there at training (I just realised if they haven't signed up then they won't get this email - coaches & team managers please ask your players and get these ppl to talk to me - we need them signed up for official reasons)

Nicki has already mentioned tournaments are coming up soon. We'd like to take as many teams as possible - dates are in the team managers folder. Info on training nights are up on the web so come along if interested (you can still come even if you don't wanna play any tournaments!)

Lastly, I have some melb uni rego forms that need to be filled out. Chances are that if you weren't playing at the very start of the season you have not filled one out - so keep watch for me over the next week and fill one out. They need to be filled out by all players even if not in State League (can team managers plz ensure all those training with them have filled it out) It may seem silly to be doing so at the end of the season but for more official reasons it needs to be done.

Hey there everyone,
I hope this email actually gets to you all!

VENUE

How is this coming along? We really need to confirm it by this weekend, or the latest before the game next week so there is enough time to print tickets & spread the word.

Has anyone spoken to Eva about the places she had already rung? (Eva: eva.so@florey.edu.au)

Tables seat 8-10 people
Need to physcially look at the venue to confirm everyone will be able to see the "main stage"
Meal prices NO MORE than $45 per head (otherwise people won't come)
2 course meal with some dessert is ideal
Aiming to seat 100 people (Reds + partners)

If anyone has a good idea, speak with Tahnee, Theresa or Miles, who are currently searching out venues (hopefully). I think Rosemary had some ideas also?

Miles was also looking into possible places for an afterparty - probably best to wait till we know where the venue will be so it can be around the same area.

TICKETS

Kelly is able to print them off - are you also designing them or know someone that can? Could they be ready to hand out at trainings week starting 18th of August at the latest?

Do we collect money before the night and on the night (people who have paid full fees including the social levy & have attended AGM & another social function receive $20 off their ticket - who has the list that attended this years AGM?)

The Catholic All School volleyball champ.'s need two referees for their tournament on monday, 11th August (this Monday). They are at State Volleyball Centre from 9.00am to 3.00 pm. The standard is low and payment is $100.00 cash. There is a school bus leaving from Fitzroy if you require transport.

Nice work on notching up a win girls! I'll probably be somewhere in Guatemala still when you play this Saturday (hopefully back by a beachside resort, I've got taste for it after a few days of beachside drinks service in the Carribean), but good luck against Yarra. 2/2 would be good ;)

Oh, and Jess just said hi as she tried to steal some cash from me (she's a sneaky one).

Hi all,
I just wanted to send my apologies for my absence at trainings this week in advance. I won't be able to make it tonight as i have an unavoidable work clash and as much as i've tried, am unable to get out of it. There is also a very high probablity that i won't be able to come on wednesday as i have an exam the next morning and will be stressing and cramming like crazy as i have very little time to prepare for it this week.

Junior girls coaches still needed

After our junior girls tryout night last Thurs., we have assembled three teams to represent the club - one for junior state league and two for Friday night at St. Bernard's.

Paul 'Chappy' Chapman has put up his hand to do the JSL team. He can somehow fit it into assistant coaching the AVL and Honours women and his playing commitments. Unfortunately, it is another case of the same people taking on more work and he would dearly love an assistant coach for this team, so it is a great opportunity for someone interested in coaching to get involved.

The two Friday night teams have no coach. They will be training Thursdays at (to be confirmed tonight) either Gilmore College in Footscray - 5.00 - 7.00, or St.bernard's in Essendon from 6.00 - 8.00, and playing Friday nights at St.Bernard's. If we can't find coaches, neither of these teams will be able to go ahead.

Academy of Mary Immaculate in Fitzroy still need coaches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 3.30 and 5.00. Thanks to Nicole Varrto and Kelly Tordisco joining Theresa Falcone in helping out there.

Hi all,

You might notice in your inbox's that I've just added you to the "2008 Division 1 Women" group on the reds website. This year all the teams have their own groups to help the players / coaches keep in touch with each other and to assist with the club administration which is moving more of it's operations to the website.

The upshot is that if you need to email the entire div 1 squad, log onto the website, visit this group at http://www.renegades.com.au/node/1828 and create a new "Group Post" from the menu on the right hand side.

Alternatively if you need to email just one person you can do so from their profile page (either click on their name in the subscribers list or use the sites contact search to find them) and send a message through their contact tab. For example, you can click the 'contact' tab on my user page to send me a message.
