Hi All,

I would like to organise an end of season coaches meeting - possibly a informal pub dinner. What night would suit people?

Warm ups

Hi coaches,

Just an idea I wanted to get out there for some feedback.

Now that we're splitting into proper teams (both the girls and the guys), I believe it would be advantageous for all of the squads to continue doing joint warm-ups (where practical, obviously the div 2 guys start earlier than div 1 and honours, but the 2 groups of teams can at least do this).

Warm ups aren't skill specific (generally), so it's the only real chance to get everybody working together across the skill levels.

Some benefits I see are:

Promotes ties between the players in the different teams, I think social interaction is a good thing for getting people passionate about volleyball and the club. Teams in the last few year have been far to insular.
Lowers the barriers to player movement between the teams because they are more familiar with each other.
Puts more onus on people to arrive on time and promotes a more consistent start time. If you're late the 30 people at training won't wait for you, whereas if you're coaching a squad and there's only 5 people there you're forced to wait until the proper numbers arrive and then this becomes the norm.
Only needs 1 coach during warm up, the rest can kick back and chill, plan their session or just run late.

I reckon there's enough benefits to make it more than worthwhile for the girls and guys, what do you all think?

Hello coaches,

Please see the attached agenda for tonight's meeting. We will begin the meeting in 'studio 8' (squash court 8 that has been converted to a meeting room) at 7.30pm and run until 10.00pm. Hopefully we will be able to go upstairs to a court to run through the general ball handling techniques.

I think everybody probably got Dave's SMS anyway, but he's organising a coaches meeting for this Wednesday Jan 30. Hopefully he'll be able to post the agenda soon. If you can't make it along please reply and let us know.

BTW, this message is coming from the coaching group on the Renegades website. It's a little like a Facebook group, you post a message and all the group members get it, or click the reply link in the email to post a reply. I've set one of these up for all of the teams this year so it's easier to keep in touch with all the players.
