Social Volleyball
For those who want to play volleyball in a more relaxed environment than offered by the State League competition, we offer social volleyball sessions throughout the year. They're open to everyone regardless of volleyball experience and are a great way to improve your volleyball.
When and where is it?
The sessions are held at the Melbourne University Sports Centre from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Tuesday nights. They're run in six week blocks throughout the year on the following dates.
Semester 1
- 1st block: 11th March – 15th April (Week off Tuesday 25th March for Easter Break). See calendar entry »
- 2nd block: 21st April – 27th May. See calendar entry »
Semester 2
- 3rd block: 29th July – 2nd September. See calendar entry »
- 4th block: 9th September – 21st October (Week off Tuesday 23rd September for Mid Semester Break). See calendar entry »
What's it going to cost me?
The cost of joining social training is a one off yearly club membership fee (refer below), which includes one free six week block of social training, equipment and venue costs, and administrative and organisational times. Subsequent six week blocks only cost $20. Students must produce a student ID card to receive the student discount for membership fees.
-
As we are already past the halfway mark for the 3rd block of training, anyone who joins now only needs to pay the 2008 membership fees to attend the rest of the social season trainings.
- Melbourne Uni Student membership: $75
- Non-Melbourne Uni Student membership: $85
- Non-Student membership: $95
FAQs
Q: Do you play games?
A: Social volleyball training mainly focuses on learning and improving skills. The majority of training is spent on skill work and at the end we utilize these skills in a match within the group. Once a month we try and have a game against the Div 2 State League women. If you're wanting to just play competitions, we recommend you enquire at MSAC, Uni High, Uni of Melb or Kew volleyball association as they have afterhours/lunchtime competitions.
Q: How do I join up?
A: Just rock up on the night, dressed and ready to train. The coaches will tell you how to sign up.
I dunno, can I get any more info?
