VTAM news

Earlier today, Volleyball Team Australia Men were defeated by world no.4,
Italy, in straight sets (17-25, 9-25, 16-25) to record its first lost at the
FIVB Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo, Japan. Italy
dominated all facets of the game as the Australian attack struggled to hit
past the well-formed Italian block.
In the post-match press conference, Australian Head Coach Russell Borgeaud
said:
"It was clearly a disappointing match from our team. Italy is a very strong
team, they have a lot of experience as well and showed that they had a good
game plan that they were able to put in effect. Some of our young players to
be honest played their worst volleyball under pressure today, and they need
to look at how they handle this mentally in the future. In a tournament like
this, always the next game is the most important, so we must start thinking
about Korea. Italy put in a tremendous performance."
VTAM will need to put this setback behind them as they prepare to face Korea
tomorrow (13:35 local time) and stay on course to qualify for the Beijing
Games this August.
