The Australians played their quarter-final against India today with the chance to progress to the top 4 teams for the tournament.

Once again Australia started slowly, making some unforced errors to allow the Indians to get away to an early lead. The Aussies managed to reduce their error rate on serve and attack to be able to match the Indians side-out for side-out but could not catch them and lost the set 16-25.

Once again the Aussies struggled to get their rhythm from the beginning and when combined with some unforced errors, the Indians were again able to control the set and got away to a five point lead by the middle of the set. The Aussies managed to get back some momentum in the last phase of the set but were not strong enough to reel in their opponents. The Indians stayed in control to the close of the set.

The third set finally saw the Aussies start the set with the determination that had been lacking before. They managed to get a 3 point lead by the first technical T/O through some good blocking and transition. The Aussies held the lead to the second technical 14-16, and were starting to show some of their form from earlier matches. The Indians stuck to their game plan though and when errors crept into the Aussies game again they were able to take the lead. The Aussies fought hard to take the set, swapping side-outs with India but two transition errors allowed the Indians to take the set and match.

Tomorrow sees the Aussies playing for the 5-8 placing.
