Between Gus and myself, we have been trying to work out when the Men's 'first' team last tasted finals success. I joined the club in 1983 and then made the first team in 1988. As my memory stands, I watched two losing grand finals from '83 to '87 and played in three losses from '88 to '93. In those days, it was Renegades, Heidelberg and Frankston who made top three each year.
We were eliminated in the second semi twice from '94 to '97 and then didn't make finals until 2003 where we lost the preliminary, and again in 2004.
So, it's at least 26 years since the last first team victory!

It's 30 years+
On talking to Rene Cirillo, Gus's brother, at AUG this week, he also had never played in a winning final team. He estimates it would have been in the mid to late '70's making it around 30 years ago!
30 years!
That's a seriously long time. Has it actually been that long? Hopefully we get a few more now to make up for it...
Let's set the record straight - 28 years!!
OK, here is the truth...Renegades Mens Honours team won the inaugural State League Competition in 1980. The team went through undefeated in the rounds and concluded the season by winning the grand final. As mentioned in other comments we reached the finals many times since then, but just missed out on the rewards.
Prior to 1980 the competition was known as MVA (you can guess what is stands for), and it was held at Brighton YMCA on a Sunday and consisted of Division 1 and 2 competiton, both Winter(double round robin) and Summer(single round robin) seasons. Oh and yes, we played both seasons without a break. The Club hand many victories in both divisions during this time due to some very dedicated and passionate players.
More history to follow!!
