The season so far...

We're just over half way through the state league season and as usual there are some Renegades teams dominating their division... and a couple of other's who are looking forward to next season.

Continuing their trend of dominance over the last 4 seasons which has seen them net 3 2nds and 1 premiership, the division 1 girls have once again snagged top position and look set to keep getting better as they build up for the finals. This weekend is going to see a battle to keep top spot as they take on the percentage challenged Monash University at 3:40. Monash vs Melbourne fighting for position number 1 on the ladder, does it get any bigger?  Well, yes I suppose it does, but it's still pretty good.

It was a successful first outing for Renegades teams in the 2006 Victorian Volleyball League with our 7 teams notching up 5 wins.

Our girls teams especially rose to the challenge of last minute player losses across every division to drop just 1 set for the day between the 3 teams.

As indoor players we all have a love/hate relationship with beach volleyball (some leaning more towards one extreme than others). Sure, it's nice to get outdoors into the sunshine, expererience a bit of a breeze on your face and feel the sand between your toes... But with constant sunburn, uncontrollable balls flying around in the wind and the energy sapping sand making your legs feel like concrete the relationship between indoor playerand the beach can be a tumultuous one.

But it seems a few of our Renegades have pushed past these hurdles and excelled on the beach this year. Here's just a few highlights from my lunchtime perusal of the beach results for the season to date

respectable third, and the womens team did one better finishing second.
